Benefit of solar cooking: Food can be baked, boiled, and steamed at cooking temperatures of 360° F to 400° F. There is no movement of air in a SUN OVEN®, allowing food to stay moist and tender and flavorful. Sun-baked roasts are tastier and more succulent, and sun-baked bread has unparalleled taste and texture.

Reduce carbon footprint: The energy you waste when cooking indoors is more than what's burned on your stovetop or in your oven. For example, in the summer, additional energy is often required to cool down the rest of the house, which can get heated up by cooking in the kitchen. When you use a SUN OVEN® to bake, boil, or steam your food, the heat stays outdoors. Moreover, SUN OVEN® presents an alternative to cooking with wood and charcoal in deforested developing countries that have been blessed with an abundance of sunshine.

Emergency preparedness: In an effort to prepare for the unexpected, many families have set aside food but struggle with the issue of how to safely store enough fuel and rotate it to keep it fresh. Using a SUN OVEN® on the days when the sun shines decreases the amount of fuel which must be stored.

SUN OVENS® in Haiti: Through the generous support of many people, the effort to expand the use of SUN OVENS® in Haiti continues to move forward. Over 350 GLOBAL SUN OVENS® have been distributed in seven tent camps to families who have been trained how to use them. An additional 200 GLOBAL SUN OVENS®, 2 Villager Sun Ovens, 200 cardboard solar cookers and 2,000 Water Pasteurization Indicators (WAPIs) have been shipped.
